Kitchen Design Trends 2018 according to Lisa

Kitchen trends are tricky. Trends in general are tricky. I've always been a little bit allergic to that word. However, being in the kitchen and bath design business I have to use it on occasion. A partial definition by good old Marriam Webster is as follows, "a current style or preference." O.K., I get that. I can definitley steer clients into a current style in the sense that if they have no idea what they would like, lets not do a 'retro' kitchen necessarily.

Be wary. Trends can get boring and redundant pretty fast. Remember listening to your favorite song on the radio over and over until it wasn't your favorite anymore? Can anyone say grey or white cabinets? OMG.

Let me be clear. I want our clients to LOVE their kitchen. Rejoice in their favorite space. Turn around and know where everything is. Know where to toss the trash and where your favorite spices are stored. Now go and collect your favorite colors, patterns, pictures out of magazines etc., and then we can talk about your kitchen. Sure, we can give you tons of ideas and show you kitchens we've designed, but help us to begin. This is your dream. You should wake up and smile when you enter your kitchen. We also want you to feel productive in the room where most people spend the majority of their time.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty. If you are doing your remodel to help sell your home and would like to sell it for quite a bit more than purchase price, we will get you there. We can tone it down and stay neutral with a stunning island complete with colored cabinets to contrast brilliantly with the rest of the kitchen's cabinetry. Now that's a current trend. (That actually happens to be one trend that I adore.)

Let's just stay away from predictable and always test what the 'experts' are predicting. The more we move away from what experts are pontificating, the sooner we may turn into, God forbid ...                               Back to article list
